HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 2017 | WE GOT OUR MOM THE BEST GIFTS!

We were encouraged by a fellow YouTuber to try out blogging.  So here we go!

I love YouTube for saving my memories forever.  But when I am looking for something, I would rather read about it than watch a video.  My husband, Dan, is the opposite!  I guess opposites attract.  He goes to YouTube first for everything.  Research, entertainment, you name it.  YouTube is his go to.  So I will be in charge of the blogging.

Back on topic...Mother's Day!

I have had some terrible Mother's Days.  One year, I did all the cooking and cleaning.  I didn't get a gift, flower, card, not so much as a thank you.  The kids were very young and can't be held responsible.  The next day, I was in Spin Class when the overwhelming feelings of disappointment and rejection hit me hard.  I was literally sobbing on my bike.  I decided to leave class and do the hardest thing imaginable to me...I confronted Dan about how much he had let me down.

Dan was shocked by what I told him.  His perception was that he was responsible for his own mother on Mother's Day, not his wife.  My perception was that he was responsible to celebrate me as the mother of his children and teach my children how to celebrate me too.  Relationship lesson #1 for me...sometimes you need to tell someone what you need, in order to get your needs met.

Every year since, Mother's Day has been better and better for me.  This year has been the best so far!  I didn't cook or clean today.  Dan help M&M make breakfast, Big Man make lunch, and Sunshine make dinner.  Also, teaching them to clean up after!  They each made me a card with thoughtful messages of love and thankfulness.  If that isn't enough my gifts were perfect too!  The kids gave me silhouettes they made at school, which I will treasure forever.  Dan got me a Yeti cooler because I pack a cooler several times a week and Yeti is supposed to be the best.  It was thoughtful and useful!

I am so grateful to be a mom.  It is the best, hardest, most rewarding thing I have ever done.  I am really glad a day was made up to celebrate being a mom.  My bucket is full for another 365 of giving 110% to all the wonderful people in my house.  I love you guys!

Erin
